Episode 20: I’m OLD!

Getting slow in their old age the ATC crew gets this podcast up a little late. Actually Ryan had some file loss emergency, but all is well after some work. NOTE: This episode is a completely unedited recording session. So enjoy this unique view into their recording process. (It will likely become a regular thing…because it’s SO much easier to put together).

In this episode the guys talk about the phenomenon of Old Man Strength and who are the best old men. Men, being much like wine, sometimes get better with age.

Thanks to the listeners who suggested good old men, they may not have listened, but still.

The episode ends with a slightly scoring muddled, but still entertaining game of Chad vs. Shawn in trying to identify the voices of old dudes.

Episode 20: I’m OLD!

For an upcoming episode the guys will discuss the best drunken characters, if you have any suggestions.

Episode 18: Weird Boner

Episode 18! We’re legal now, so stop hiding in our bushes trying to peeking at us in the bathroom. Wait…that’s still illegal, come inside, let’s get it on!

After last week’s drunken craziness we felt like we owed you something of substance, so we literally put minutes of thought into making an actual topic and we stick to it. Stemming off Ethan’s “weird boner” comment in his first episode the crew this week discusses strange crushes from entertainment.

Ryan and Shannon are joined by the spectral presences of John and Ethan to fill out the theoretical table and talk about people that might not be of typical hotness, but hold a special place in your mind, heart or parts below.

If you have a weird celebrity crush share it with us for a special prize.

To open Ethan talks about The Hobbit, we ramble a little, talk about Game of Thrones again (shortly).

We roll right into the main topic for a good long while, including lots of visual discussion. (images below)

At the end we talk about some upcoming entertainment.

Check it,

Episode 17: A Blackout Christmas

Girls take over our shit! Basically when this episode is over all listeners will have forgotten about Ryan, Alex, John, Ethan and any other person ever even related to this podcast. If Shannon and Kolbe ever sit down and record with John’s wife Jessica then the podcast will probably become a girls only affair.

It was supposed to be a Christmas episode and started down that path for about 30 seconds before “The Kannon” started down its own path and Ryan and Alex (The….Rylex? The Alan, wait, uhh, uhh, uhh, no…uh, uh, uh….that won’t work, at all) just hold on for dear life as the girls destroy ATC as it has been established.

That’s right, all the benign, stupid piddle you’ve grown to tolerate has been blown apart by these podcast dynamos…these women of wonder that come in and raise a beautiful phoenix out of our ashes.

Topics glanced over include Elf, christmas movies, Sex and the City, Law and Order: SVU, Christopher Meloni, Oz, Wet Hot American Summer, The Wire, The Corner, etc.

It was a several hour discussion, boiled down to an hour and a half of podcast gold!

Extra, Extra! 17: Minecraft…again

Ryan, Alex and Ethan discuss Minecraft…again. But more to the point they talk about the main Unofficial Minecraft server of the Rooster Teeth community that Ethan runs and Ryan builds on. Recently the server had it’s first of hopefully many Let’s Play days.

And the conversation just goes around and around Minecraft, Rooster Teeth, and ends up on NyQuil. How? Well…listen and find out.

Extra, Extra! 17: Minecraft…again

Episode 15: Minecrafty

In this episode the ATC crew shows you how little they think of you. Ryan plays a videogame the whole time and John and Alex aren’t even there. They’re all abusive and distant to you, aren’t they? Come here, I’ll hug you. Awwwww, there, there.

No worries though, Facebook fan #125, Ethan, steps in to help. He may also be playing a video game…in fact he’s playing Minecraft with Ryan. They talk about Mining, Crafting and building games with the results of both of those to make a Let’s Play style area on Ethan’s Minecraft server.

Through the course of conversation they hit some other topics; Rooster Teeth, Red vs. Blue, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, MMOs, Halo, pedicabs and…more Minecraft.

Extra, Extra! 17: Use The Force

John and Ryan start talking about Angry Birds Star Wars, take a pit-stop on MRIs, then move on to the movies, crazy George Lucas, then kind of back to Angry Birds.

It’s a lengthy Extra, but you can’t stop nerds once they start talking about Star Wars.

Episode 14: Dumbassary

The guys came in with a plan and abandoned it almost immediately, embracing the
title of the show and having an entirely Trivial Conversation. So this is an
almost entirely unedited pointless discussion between Ryan, John and Alex.

To make up for any sad soul that might actually look to us for guidance, John and Ryan talk Star Wars Angry Birds, Angry Birds in general and Star Wars in General…Kenobi. (Editors note: I almost put General Grievious, but he is an abomination on the franchise)

Back to Episode 14:
Here are some notable pointless points (Times and links will be in the show notes):

During a Penalty Box discussion, John & Alex both rack up points. Ryan still in the clear… surprisingly.

The guys display their complete lack of knowledge about Mars and science in
general. Go ahead…laugh at them.

A short mention of an upcoming Quinten Tarantino episode and the recorded but
unreleased episode on The Wire.

Then laugh that grown men are fans of My Little Pony, not the ATC guys, but Alex
takes steps to infiltrate the Houston Chapter of the Bronies. An adult My Little
Pony fan club…seriously, that’s a thing.

John calls Alex a “Sexy Mexican.”

During a discussion about Glorious facial hair John and Alex say “FU” in
unison…and it goes unnoticed.

Ryan & John berate Alex, slightly harshly, and . John does come up with the
episode title, Alex tries to retaliate with Gangnam Style

That loops into a search for Hitler on Twitter…who knows.

Ryan says Y’all in natural (slightly drunken) speech, it also went unnoticed, even by him (until he edited the show).

An athlete drives drunk…in a Teletubby outfit.

Eventually the guys get to current entertainment. Madden, Minecraft, videogame
frustration, rage quitting and Ryan’s eventual freak out over being interupted
several times.

Alex posits the topic what would the guys be in different time periods?

Episode 13: Dream a little dream

Through amazing podcast time-warp technology you would never guess that we recorded this episode when we recorded episode 12…except that we mention it and ruin the whole thing.

The guys have a trivial conversation about dreams followed up by a talk about their latest entertainment. It’s not a full on episode, but it’s close enough.

The intro bit may or may not contain the word jizz. (It totally does).

Regularly scheduled programming will return for episode 14.

Episode 12: The T-Rex Roar of the Crowd

In Episode 12, the ATC podcast crew addresses some issues in a sort of “State of the Podcast” discussion, but as is often the case, the guys get sidetracked.

But they eventually come back around to the requests of their 50th and 100th Facebook fan requests. To attempt to imitate (and videotape) the sound of the Tyrannosaurus Rex from Jurassic Park.
Unfortunately, due to some camera malfunctions only one quarter of the recorded video came out, that being the John and Ryan cam for the first of the two rounds of the challenge. Alex’s fine contributions can be seen, but not heard. That video is available below.

After two attempts the guys manage to carry on without dying of laughter and talk about live music.

Extra, Extra! Believe it or not, the ATC podcast crew are not flawless. I know, I know, you are shocked.

So, in celebration of our 100th fan on our Facebook page, here are a few outtakes from the podcast up until now. We’ve been trying to save them, but a few slipped through the cracks. We will make a much better effort at keeping record of our screw ups from now on.

Episode 11: A Very Dark Orange Light

In Episode 11, Alex and Ryan FINALLY catch up on some Red Light, Green Light action. (If you missed the the first appearance in Episode 3, Red Light Green Light is a segment where members of the crew pitch shows, movies, etc. to each other for approval.)
So only 7 episodes later Alex has finally watched Firefly so that he and Ryan can talk about that and Shameless.
The guys also address the 30th Facebook fan’s RL,GL submission of the movie Gummo…yeah.
So, listen and see what the guys think of Gummo, Showtime’s Shameless and Firefly. A little sneak peek, there are two Green Lights and One Red Light…you’re dying to know, I can tell!

The guys wrap up talking about AMC’s The Walking Dead up to now.

In a continuing of the theme from Episode 10, in this Extra, Extra John and Ryan talk about Sim City and related games.

From the initial greatness that was the original city building game to some of the latest attempts at copies and finally the new version which will be coming out next year.

They are Sim-Cited…SIMply exCITYed…shit, whatever, you get it.

Extra, Extra! 015: Sim City

Episode 10: Gamer vs. Gamer

For Episode 10. Ryan and John have a fairly unplanned, unceremonious and unAlexed discussion about video games.
From Ryan’s point as a relatively hardcore gamer to John who is mostly a mobile gamer the guys discuss the past, present and future of gaming from the noise soaked world of John’s backyard. There may even be some poop talk, so suck that!
…Not the poop, the fact that they talk about poop. See, now you’re weirded out a little, I can tell. It’s not a poop thing, I swear.

They also thank Shawn for being our 50th fan on Facebook and mention yet another thing they plan to do in the future. Will it happen? No one knows! Taking all bets.

ATCpod Episode 10: Gamer vs. Gamer

Extra, Extra! 014: BEER!!

Extra, Extra! The guys talk the tasty liquid of the gods, (well that’s Scotch according to Ryan) but they talk Beer.

Including, a little after October, Oktoberfest beers. Shiner (imagine that), Sam Adams, New Belgium Brewery’s Red Hoptober and Spaten (the name  Ryan was trying to think of) Oktoberfest.

Alex & Ryan’s favorite beer on tap from a local bar, the Wurst Haus, has an awesome name. Devastator beer

Zombie Alex

Zombie Alex checks the tape holding the mic to his face. High production values when we record!

In this episode Ryan terrifies the other guys with his attempt at a Dracula voice, Alex has a mic taped to his face and John whines like a little girl during a Spooky Sounds game.

The ATCpod crew talks horror movies for this spooky Halloween episode.
Starting as kids watching scary movies, the first movie to really scare you and a general, looping discussion about horror that comes around to end on the tactic of rooting for the bad guy in horror films.
In a Halloween themed game Ryan pits Alex and John against each other to THE DEATH!

First up though, we officially announce Banner, by Scenario, as our new official theme song.
Alex talks a little music to balance out John and Ryan after their Episode 7 ROCK FEST! The discussion brings to light the questions, was Alex a diversity hire? Possibly. Are John and Ryan extremely white? Likely.

Episode 07: Music Theories

In this week’s episode Ryan and John carry on without Alex and take the opportunity of his incarceration (or whatever it was) to talk about ROCK! and some other music, in preparation for an upcoming discussion about live music (probably in 3 or so episodes).

Early on Ryan realizes he’s been off the mic a bit too much because of paranoia about running the show controls, so his solution? To drink more…sound thought process there (get it?). But he does try Glenlivet 18 year old scotch for the first time, on air.

Some short talk about video games and Ryan’s response to John’s first Red Light, Green Light submission, Da Vinci’s Inquest.

Then the guys talk evolution of tastes in music, use of music as therapy, music as an autobiography for times in your life, and a bunch of other stuff. They also talk surprising choices in music and both think rap sucks…TAKE THAT ALEX!

And posting on Halloween we’ll have a scary movie discussion, featuring another devilish game that Ryan plans to torture Alex and John with. Muwhahahahahaha….okay, done.

Extra, Extra! 007: Entertaiment planned parenthood…wait, no

In this poorly titled Extra, Extra! The ATCpod crew is joined by John’s wife, Jessica, and newly born baby, Grace, to discuss the entertainment landscape of parenthood. Is it a barren wasteland, an oasis or a growing, changing ecosystem of a metaphor that is really getting away from me?…sorry.

Episode 06: A. Trivial Conversation

The ATCpod crew talk in their cave.

This week the ATCpod crew (Ryan, John & Alex) have A. Trivial Conversation (see what I did there?) about entertainment.

Loosely starting out by discussing a movie or show you can re-watch over and over the boys have a nice, pleasant talk.

Then Ryan runs a game and everyone hates everyone. Not really, but it would have been funny.  (Editor’s note: Ryan fumbled the “no hint” rule a few times, but a game reconstruction expert’s analysis proved the ending would have still been the same, give or take a few points.)

In Extra, Extra #006: Ryan, Alex & John discuss entertaining yourself on a budget.

Extra, Extra 005: New to Me: The Walking Dead

In Extra, Extra #5 John gives his first impression of the first episode of Walking Dead after finally trying out the series.

After some initial mental conflicts with the similarities between the start of Walking Dead and 28 Days later, John’s bell gets rung by the potential of the series.

Also, Alex clicks a pen…the whole FUCKING time! After this episode, Alex was killed…so no worries on that happening again.

Episode 05: Dexterous

This week Alex and Ryan are joined by frequent news contributor John. Comment and convince him he should be rotated in as a regular member.

In a first of firsts the boys clock in the podcast in just under an hour.

In a second of firsts, no news, sorry.

But Ryan and Alex discuss Looper, briefly (Ryan’s review article available). Ryan talks about Borderlands 2.

In a Showtime showdown Alex and Ryan discuss the start of the second season of Showtime’s Homeland and all three guys talk about Dexter for the majority of the episode.

Then, in a sort of test run, Ryan pits John and Alex against each other in description variant of Name That Tune about Dexter.

Episode 04 – Maddened & Primer’d

The long awaited Episode 4 is here! Well it’s only been a week, but for an addict it’s too long.

Apologies for the outage last week, but it couldn’t be helped. Well it could be helped, but not much.

First off, we have a new name. Another Trivial Conversation. It keeps our ATCpod accounts intact. Thanks to those that pitched ideas at us, nuts to the rest of you!

In this episode we start it off right with some honest gamer rage! Alex discusses his issues playing Madden 13 on the Playstation Network and Ryan finally gets his revenge in Minecraft against the dastardly bastardly Chad-ardly.

Then we jump right into our results for the first movie edition of Red Light, Green Light. Will Alex green light Grosse Pointe Blank? What does Ryan think of Primer?

We have a minor (majorly cut down, sadly) conversation about time travel, including a few movies and Ryan’s recent acquisition of the book “So You Created a Wormhole: A Time Traveler’s Guide to Time Travel.” Review forthcoming.

And as always we end on a few stories from the Tri City Times World Herald Gazette Courier Chronicle Vindicator Sentinel Daily Picayune.

In case you hadn’t noticed…

There was no podcast this week.

We apologize to the dozen or so of you who will be lost without us. Have no fear that the party to blame for our absence from your life this week will be punished severely.

We might even make it a topic. “The water boarding of shame.”

We hope to resume regular schedule, which we didn’t actually have yet. But the plan is to have a delicious podcast for you on humpday (Wednesday, for the colloquial challenged).

The plan is also to have a set of back-up guests and pre-recorded episodes, if another rash of “I’m busy/I’m out of town/I’m in jail” bullshit excuses disrupt regular programming.

In the mean time, just sit and wait for us. Sit down…right now! You wait right there.

Episode 02 – There’s no We

In our second episode we have worked out all of the problems and kinks…except we found some new ones.

First off, there are at least 2 other After The Credits podcasts. Which, you might say shame on us for not finding them before setting on a name, but we did search! They just don’t have a big presence, but, out of fairness, we decided we should change the name.

We kind of like ATC though, so if you can come up with something good, let us know.

In this episode we discuss current interests, favorite websites, the mid-season break of Breaking Bad, some coming attractions (where Ryan has a seizure of some kind when it comes to Joseph Gordon Levitt’s name) and we wrap up with the News; featuring some stories by John Tompkins.

Get Episode 2….right now!

Episode 01 – Breaking News

Episode 01 – Breaking News

In the first real attempt at an episode Ryan and Alex talk about their favorite thing, themselves; plus, how journalists and Sports Night fans view The Newsroom.

In the first of a likely frequent segment Alex and Ryan bust out their journalistic skills to bring you some offbeat news you might be interested in.

Also, the duo discuss stand-up comedy, starting with Jim Gaffigan’s newest (and webiest) special “Mr. Universe,” moving through to past and current favorite comedians and the way the web is changing the face of stand-up.

Feedback and conversation is appreciated. Intelligent banter will gain you instant approval and possibly more things you might actually care about.

A rough, inebriated stab at making a podcast. Alex and Ryan discuss Breaking Bad Episode 6 of Season 5. A brief discussion of SciFi movies that had an impact on us and, in a show of dedication to being open and honest, Alex and Ryan both admit to liking an unlikely film in the first try of Unexpected Pleasures.

The quality will only get better as we hit our stride.
